Parent Resources

This page is dedicated to useful resources for parents outside the classroom.  We hope you find it a useful platform to find published information to help support children and families in our community!

General Resource

Zero to Three - A national nonprofit organization that informs, trains, and supports professionals, policymakers, and parents in their efforts to ensure that babies and toddlers benefit from the early connections that are critical to their well-being and development.  

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) - NAEYC is a professional organization that focuses on promoting high-quality early learning for young children from birth through eight years old.  The organization focuses on connecting practice with policy and state-of-the-art, modern research.  Although a professional organization, they provide many useful resources to parents who are looking for high-quality, up-to-date best practices.

USDA MyPlate - USDA MyPlate provides very useful information about healthy eating habits of people of all ages.   As children age, their nutritional requirements evolve.  This resource provides families with information about healthy eating habits as they grow.   MyPlate provides many activities and games to keep children interested and knowledgeable about food and healthy eating.

All About Young Children - This website provides useful information for parents about different stages of children's development as well as useful tools and resources to promote healthy growth and development in multiple different areas from birth until 5 years old.

American Academy of Pediatrics - The AAP provides useful toolkits and resources for parents.  This includes up-to-date information about health and well-being as well as peer-reviewed publications on state-of-the-art research.  This can also help connect you with local and national resources, provide you useful information that you can bring to your pediatrician to help facilitate discussions about your children's well-being.

Bright Futures - Also support by AAP, Bright Futures is geared more towards professionals (medical professionals, educators, community health professionals), however, this resource could provide parents with more perspective and resources enhance interactions with these professionals. 

CDC Essentials for Parenting Toddlers and Preschoolers - The CDC provides plenty of resources for parents and caregivers.  It's a free, online resource that addresses many common questions and challenges that parents and caregivers may face when raising children.

CDC Parent Information - This resource focuses specifically on child health and well-being.  It is a great resource for parents regarding any health related questions, concerns, or information for children of all ages (birth through teen).

U.S. Department of Education - The U.S. DoEd has organized plenty of resources for families with children of all ages and needs. While many of their publications can be a bit content heavy, they are filled with useful and important educational information.

US Department of Education Resources for Spanish Speakers - The US DoEd publishes all their materials in multiple languages, this particular website provides materials for families in Spanish.  This materials is not limited to early childhood education and includes resources for primary, secondary, and post-secondary school in addition to continuing education. 

U.S. Department of Education - Early Learning - This resources allows you to sign-up for a newsletters containing up-to-date information and many useful resources for families and educators alike. The newsletters provide high-quality convenient and practical information.

Reach Out and Read - Reach Out and Read is an organization that emphasizes and supports families in their quest to read with their children.  Exposing children to reading and language has innumerable life-long benefits.  Much of their work is through clinicians and they have a few different sites here in Napa.

Vroom - Vroom compiles research and best-practices to provide families with easily accessible, extremely useful tools to navigate children's early years.  The small activities and tips Vroom provides can have a truly oversized and positive impact on your children's development.

Local Resources

Human Health Services Napa - HHS can help provide information and resources to families.

Napa County Library - The local library has plenty of resources for families.  If they cannot provide a service to you, they certainly can help you find who will.
